Friday Senses

Seeing:  Lots of animals at the zoo!  We went to the zoo this week, and the boys loved it.  They had so much fun wandering around and looking at all the animals.  We even got a zoo membership, so we'll be making a lot more zoo trips!

Loving:  Watching the boys explore and play outside in our yard everyday.  These guys cannot get enough of nature and I love it!

Smelling:  These tulips that we picked from our yard.  They're so pretty!  And look awesome on our table.

Laughing: At slide hair!!  And also, multi-colored poop due to my kids eating crayons.  Didn't feel the need to take or post a photo.  You're welcome.

Eating:  Homemade pizza.  Soooo easy and delicious.  Fresh tomatoes and mozzarella, home-grown basil, and homemade dough.

Dating:  Jeremy and I were able to get away last night for a day thanks to our awesome friend, Katrina.  We are HUGE Game of Thrones fans, and the Nashville Adventure Science Center was having a "way late play date",  with a Game of Thrones theme that we went to.  All the exhibits were open for us to play on and drinks were served.  It was awesome.  We played and hung out with other GOT nerds just like us!

Kayaking:  A friend and I went kayaking on the Piney River this week.  It was so cold and the owner kinda thought we were crazy, but it was fun!  I'm looking forward to this summer when it really warms up some and we can take the boys on the river!

What We've Been Up To Lately: Quiet Book//Birthday Presents//Weddings//New Job

This is going to be a mash up post of our life happenings as of late.

First of all, I finished the first page of the boys' quiet book!  I'm solo slow when working on this stuff, mainly because I haven't done a lot of sewing before, so it takes me a while to figure things out so that I don't sew something upside down or inside out or what not.  But I'm excited about how this first page turned out, and can't wait to do more!

Just in case you can't tell, the page has a little 3d rocket that is attached to a zipper.  As you pull the rocket up towards the moon, the fabric opens into what is suppose to look like flames coming out of the back of the rocket.  I did make my orange fabric piece a little too small, as it does not come down all the way to the edge of the page.  Oops.  I didn't want to redo it, and I don't think it looks bad enough to warrant a total remake.

Let me know what you think!  It's my very first time with doing anything like this, so be nice.

Jeremy's birthday was back in August, and I thought I would share his gifts that I got him, because they're pretty awesome.  First of all, I got him these:

If you know Jeremy at all, you probably know that he is a huge Star Wars fan.  We always make fun of the typical stick-figure-family details, so I thought these would be awesome instead for our car!  He loved them, and was so excited to put them on the back of our car.

The other part of his birthday present was a surprise date night to The Price Is Right Live Show!  The show came to Nashville a couple weeks ago, and I thought it would be fun for us both to go.  Unfortunately, neither of us got chosen to play, but we had fun watching! (sorry for the dark pics-my cell phone is all I had!)

This past weekend, I had the awesome privilege of being a bridesmaid in one of my best friends' wedding!  The wedding was perfect and beautiful.

Since I had to leave early in the morning the day of the wedding, Jeremy was left to work, pick the boys up from daycare, feed them, clean them, get them dressed and make it to wedding on time...all within like an hour and half.  But he made it!  And the boys looked super cute!

The boys had so much fun.  They did awesome, especially since they were out way past their bedtime that night.  They were very good during the  ceremony, loved hanging around all the people, and especially loved dancing with us on the dance floor.  (So wish I had photos of that...but I was busy actually dancing with my boys and not able to take the pictures).  We all had an awesome night.

And lastly, we're excited about Jeremy's new job!  He is now going to be working at The Well, a coffee shop that was started by a few people from our church.  This coffee shop has done surprisingly well.  It is an awesome little shop that gives away all of their profits to a couple different organizations that build wells for people in other countries who do not have access to clean water.

This coffee shop has really opened my eyes to how much other* coffee shops are just pocketing money.  This place can afford to pay their baristas (not unfairly), keep the place open and thriving, charge cheaper prices for their coffee (not compromising on quality or taste), and still afford to give away a whole lot of money to people who really need it.

We're so excited that Jeremy has the opportunity  to work for such an awesome place.  He starts in a couple of weeks!

If you haven't been yet, you should totally go check out The Well.  It's located in Green Hills, right on the corner of Richard Jones rd and Hillsboro.  Not only will you get a great cup of coffee, but you will also be helping people who are less fortunate than yourself.

A Movie, Colds, and Sleepers.

Sorry I have been gone for a while ya'll.  I had a stretch of 4 days in a row working (and when those are 12 hour shifts, that's a long 4 days), so I've been pretty much working, taking care of babies, working out with Jillian Micheals (she's kicking my butt, by the way), and sleeping, and therefore not leaving much time for the blogs.  But now I have 7 days straight off from work, which I'm super pumped about.

We were able to get away one night after the boys went to bed a few days ago and we went to see the movie The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo.
I read the famous trilogy, and Jeremy and I watched the swedish versions of all 3 films, so we were interested to see how this one would turn out.  We were pretty impressed with the swedish films.  Good acting, true to the story, etc.  We like Daniel Craig, and thought he would work well as the supporting actor in the new movie, and he did.  Rooney Mara was chosen to play Lisbeth, and she played the role perfectly.  The movie was very good, and I'm excited for the final 2 to come out!

In other news, I'm the only one in our house who hasn't gotten sick recently.  Baby boys and Jeremy are all trying to get over a little cold.  Poor little guys have snot and phlegm pouring out of them.  Foxx doesn't even act like he's sick...he's as happy as can be...with a cough and snot all over his face and all.  Judah is just a little cranky, but not really all that bad.  Foxx's cold is almost completely gone now, and Judah's still working on it.  A Vix vaporizer, and the little blue suction bulb have been our best friends as of late.

Also unrelated to anything else in this post, we are trying to see if the boys will sleep in sleepers now instead of swaddle blankets...they are getting sort of big for the swaddles and wiggle their way out of them every night anyway, so we thought it may be time to drop them.  They are doing ok, its just occasionally they will move so much in their sleep that one will be kicking the other, or they will roll over in their sleep and wake themselves up.  That's only happened a few times, and I think they are getting more used to it now.  Plus, sleepers are super cute.

Going up and getting our boys out of bed, whether it be from a nap or in the morning after a good night's sleep is one of my favorite times of the day, because they will always greet you with a huge smile.  They've rested, they're happy to see you, and they're ready to play.  It makes getting up early sooo much better.  I mean, who wouldn't love to get up early and play with these little dudes?!

Thanks² Day 12 & 13

I'm thankful that Jeremy and I got to go out on a date-baby free.

While visiting the parents up in Michigan, Jeremy and I got to have a night out to ourselves.  We went to one of our favorite places to eat, Joe's Crab Shack.  We haven't gotten to eat at Joe's since long before I was preggers.  We got a big steamer basket of crabs, shrimp, sausage, corn and potatoes and split it.  It was delicious!  Jeremy and I have only gotten to go out alone together 2 times since the babies have been born.  It's nice to get away sometimes to spend time with just each other, but we always find ourselves talking about and missing our boys, even if it's for just a few hours.

I'm thankful for a homemade sunday dinner with the family.

We had chicken and dumplings made by yours truly.
